Planning Something Big

Well.. Not too big, hopefully no bigger than like, 7lbs 8oz.. : )

Today was my appointment with my doctor to start figuring out why I'm not knocked up yet. And, if one more person says "You're just not trying enough" or "Stop trying and it will happen!" I will cut them. CUT THEM. Because hello, if I'm not ovulating, it doesn't matter how many times we Bowm-chicka-wow-wow!

I felt very prepared for my appointment today, and anyone who knows me knows that I stress about not being ready. I have a folder and a notebook for my doctors visits (my OB/Gyn and my Neuro) so I can keep everything together and take notes, etc. So I had all of my charts, my observations, questions, and concerns neatly in my folder ready to present to my (amazing) doctor. He looked at all of my stuff, and then at my medical history, all my ultrasound pictures, surgery reports, etc. He told me that I have PCOS. For some reason, this hit me like a ton of bricks to the face. I mean, I figured that was probably the case, but having to even have a diagnosis is hard to take in. On the other hand, its nice to know at least there's a reason it's not happening very easily for me.

I am starting Metformin tomorrow for 30-60 days to hopefully get my body regulated and ovulating. Hopefully this will be enough to get the ball rolling, but if it's not, he will on Clomid or Femara after 60 days. After four regular cycles, if we still aren't pregnant, he said I'll need to see a fertility doctor to have a HSG test done to check on my one remaining tube. He told me that when I had surgery last February to get some adhesions scraped out of my abdomen, that my tube looked a little not good, but he thought it was just because of all the adhesions and the fact that I was in surgery, and my ovary and tube has had some trauma to them in past surgeries. He also had a lot of blood drawn to test all my hormone levels to make sure there isn't anything going wrong with that.

I already feel better just having a plan, and a time frame for these plans to come into action. I also LOVE my doctor. I wish he was my doctor for everything, he is so understanding and patient. And he talks to me like I am a person, not like I am the stupidest person in the room because I didn't attend medical school.

  1. Yay! So excited that you have a plan and the ball is rolling. I have never had Metformin but the other girls I know that have really seem to love it and have had success with it. I hope it does the same for you! Good Luck!

  3. My last Neurologist told me I was Obsessive Compulsive because I came in with my folder and note book, and had made him a typed copy of everything I wanted him to know LOL.
